BONIFACE PHANTOM LIMBS (VIDEO)

We recently shared Boniface’s most energetic, pop-leaning track to date ‘Phantom Limbs’, impressed by his easy transition from lo-fi songwriting to this radio-ready hit, all while maintaining his introspective lyricism that first drew us to Canadian talent Micah Visser. Turns out, all this creativity in the genes, as it’s his brother Joey Visser who picks up the director’s mantle for the music video of ‘Phantom Limbs’. With Joey behind the camera and Micah in front of it, accompanied by his road-tripping, drinking and dancing buddy Mina Kwoczynska, the group explore their hometown of St. Boniface, Winnipeg. It’s all about youthful freedom and friendship, and so, “Having my brother Joey directing this video was a no brainer. Boniface is such an intimate project for me and I’m really glad we could keep this video as honest as possible,” as Michael Visser explains. Going more in depth with the filming process,  director Joey Visser tells us that, “We shot this during a very cold week in February. I feel like this added to the authenticity and urgency in the video. It felt a lot more like filming something that was actually happening rather than a music video we set up.” It’s that naturalistic approach that makes the video seem more like a short film about young life in the frozen suburbs, than a choreographed music video. - Hannah Thacker
